RECRUITING 101- BREAKING DOWN THE RECRUITING PROCESS - PART ONE
Breaking down the NCAA recruiting process.
The purpose of these articles will look to give guidance for the student-athlete looking to find the best university for them.
PART ONE
STARTING THE PROCESS
The recruiting process can be a stressful experience. Most families do not have any idea how to get started. How should we start the process? The first thing you should do is your own homework. In this day and age all the information needed is at your finger tips. The internet is an invaluable tool for student-athletes today. Start your own research, look at the different options that are available for your education and your athletic needs.
To do this you need to answer a few questions and you need to be honest with yourself. Everyone wants to be at an Ivy school level academically and everyone wants to play professional baseball, the truth is there is a very small percentage of student-athletes that are going to be able to do that. Being honest with yourself will only help you find your best fit and your best chance to be successful both academically and athletically.
- Are my grades good enough to gain admission?
- What majors does the university offer? Is mine one of them?
- How credible is a degree from the university?
- If baseball is not a factor, would I enjoy being a student there?
Do your own homework! Go online and breakdown the universities. Research what the university has to offer YOU outside of athletics. This is a great way to start the process by narrowing down your choices. The first and most important part of the process is your education. After the dream of becoming a major league baseball player starts to fade, you better have something you are passionate about to continue your journey. The most important factor for your future is your major and the degree you earned form that university.
This process will help you narrow down and alleviate some of the stress and clutter when thinking about finding the right university for you.
We will dive deeper into the recruiting process as we continue with these articles. Part Two will give insight into finding the right fit athletically.
